Mobile Imaging Portal for Staff & Customers

A custom web portal where Shared Medical Services staff and their hospital and clinic customers schedule imaging, process orders, and track credentials and quality reports in one place.

The challenge

Shared Medical Services provides mobile PET/CT and MRI imaging to hospitals and clinics. Their teams were managing expenses, inventory orders, staff credentials and licensing, and day-to-day operations across many sites. Their customers also needed a reliable way to schedule patients and see the status of their imaging services.

Our solution

KMG started with an employee intranet: a dashboard for expenses, inventory orders, credentials and licensing, and staff information. Soon after launch, SMS asked us to open it to their customers. We added extranet features so hospitals and clinics can:

• Schedule patients and process PET/CT and MRI orders
• View SMS staff licenses and certifications
• Access QA reports and metrics
• Keep up with SMS news and documentation

PET/CT technologists can fully process patient exams in the portal right from the mobile imaging coach, including check-in and check-out of radioactive doses.

The result

The portal became the central system SMS and its customers use every day to coordinate imaging services. It runs on load-balanced servers in SMS's own AWS environment, the platform is SOC 2 compliant, and KMG continues to develop and support it.
